Since CJ's maths is progressing at lightspeed, and practically everyone can't catch up, I've decided to get myself some tuition. On hearing that Eugene had some really great maths class every Saturday night from 7-9pm that was only $60 bucks a month, i went for it.
Apparently, the guy's name is Ah Leow. No, seriously, Ah Leow. His tuition centre is "somewhere in Peace centre" as described by Eugene, so he offered to bring me there. Peace centre is the building beside Paradiz, so I waited inside, at Macs. When he finally came, it was 7:10pm. He assured me that they don't start on the dot, so we went up to the 5th floor.
God, I knew Peace Centre was crappy, but I honestly didn't know it was THAT crappy. The paint was peeling, and there were corridors that seemed like they came from a horror movie. So, at the 5th floor, we turned a left then a right, and I saw a frail old man standing behind a door. He waved and said "eh Richard! 为什么那么迟!!". Eugene told me that it was a nickname that Ah Leow gave. lol
So...walked down another tiny corridor, walls were filled with old photo frames and tons of withering books. Well, at least it wasn't as bad as Henry Lee's place. Anyway, when we got to his "classroom", I was seriously stunned. It was just a little room, jam packed with those chairs with a side table attached to it. The room was about the size of our 422 classroom, except that the front of the room was lit, and the back was so dark you could barely make out the outlines of the chairs. There was little room to walk, and the floor was littered with rubbish. Oh well, if he could teach, none of that mattered, much.
Eugene says he's apparently a multi-millionare, and owns several properties around Singapore. His earns money by renting those out. He also owns(not rent) 2 office spaces on the 5th floor of Peace Centre, and since the School Of The Arts will be built soon, some developer guys will be buying over the whole building and this Ah Leow will earn 3.9 mil. I don't know whether to believe or not...sounds like a pretty tall tale to me.
His teaching's okay, he jokes and talks in chinese, but when teaching he suddenly switches to english. Save for the occasional mispronounciation, his english is rather good. He made some really funny jokes, but this is the only one i remember. I'll translate it from chinese, since I'm lazy to type chinese characters out.
"You know once I was in a sauna in Tasmania, I met an Australian. He asked me where I was from, and I said Singapore. He said he didn't know where Singapore is, so I told him if he took SIA before. He said yes. I was damn pissed, he take SIA also dunno where is Singapore. So I scolded him chee bai. He asked what was the meaning of that, and I replied 'Good Friend'. Immediately, he said 'haha, ok chee bai'. So next time you go Australia see people say chee bai, is I do one ah!"
I'm sorry if it didn't sound funny, but it sounded hilarious the way he said it the other day. Haha!
I think i'll just end here...feel a sudden urge to play GTA:CW. God, I'm hopeless. lol.
