Our turn to go to Kallang for Dragonboating today. Turns out dragon boating's only a tiny part of the day. Rest is all bullcrap. We played games for a pretty long time.
Game 1
You know a strand uncooked spaghetti, that one stiff fragile yellow stick? Well, we had to pair up with a person of the opposite sex, each holding one end in his/her mouth, squat down and duck walk sideways for 10 metres. If the stick broke? Throw away the longer end and restart with the shorter part. Freaking gross.
Game 2
Piggyback a person of the opposite sex. Person being piggybacked gets to hold a styrofoam cup with two holes at the bottom filled with water. In their mouth. Water drains out totally after 2 seconds. So back to the piggybacking thing. Carry the person 2m, turn clockwise, turn anti-clockwise, then another 2m and then put the person down to dump whatever's left in the cup into a bucket. Water level must be a certain limit to win. We were literally filling it up DROP by DROP. so much fun /sarcasm
Game 3
One team gets to be attackers, other team defenders. Long pipe stuck into the sand with pingpong ball at the bottom. Pipe is riddled with holes. Defenders must fill the pipe up with water, with the team members covering the holes at the same time so the ping pong ball floats to the top. Attackers grab buckets of seawater and dump it on the Defenders. Fun. Very. Except when we had to switch teams....
We got to dumb our facilitators into the water too, so it wasn't so bad after all. We have one facil, Heidi, whos only like, 130cm tall. Seriously stunted growth. Looks a little like a walking barbie doll but kinda cute. In a barbie doll sort of way. She tried to escape by claiming she had a camera with her. Got one guy to grab the cam while Shriyas brought the water to her....splashy splashy.
Game 4
2 trees with a lot of strings tied between to resemble a spider web. Must carry guys above or thru the holes. very hard. We managed to carry Muhaimin through and then me, then the rest followed. Not supposed to touch any of the strings but they didn't enforce that a lot. No going superman through the net either.
Game 5
sit down and stack our feet to make a tall tower. thats all.
Then came the Dragon Boating!!!! Got into the boat, taught to paddle round, then the guy behind instructed us in the fine arts of water splashing with our paddles. Interesting. We were just going in circles around the Kallang Basin and whenever we met another Boat...WARRRR!!!!!! Had a little bucket too the scoop water out of our boat. After the 5th boat or so the next boat we passed hurriedly put up peace signs. We soaked them anyway.
Had a 2 mini-races. We got 2nd in the first one, 3rd in the other.
There was this instance when we passed one boat, then i turned around just in time to see them throw a bucket at us. I threw it back, and the instructor said "Oi!! thats our bucket lah!" Had a mini war because they refused to give it back. After we got it back, the instructor was like, "So whos the jackass who gave them our bucket!" then he proceeded to soak be with a bucketful of water
I actually thought today was quite fun, starting to gel together with my group.
End of day. Tomorrow with be until 6:30pm
Ok, random extract from the past few days. There was this time a few guys were dragged up to showcase their corniest pick-up lines in front of everyone, to a girl from the same orientation group as them. The funniest was this.
Guy: "Hey, are your legs tired?"
Girl: "No."
Guy: "*whisper* you're supposed to say Why?"
Girl: "um...Why?"
Guy: "So you can sit on my lap, and we can talk about the first thing that pops UP!"
d00d shud win 5 internetz! although he probably ripped it off from the internet.
mood: tired, but starting to think this may not be so bad after all...
